What we store

Paintings you create: the converted template, your uploaded photo, brushstrokes, chat-free progress data, and the painter names attached to them. Notes you send us through the Help page (delivered to our inbox by FormSubmit, our form delivery service). If you have an account, the things listed below.

If you have an account

You never need one to paint, and painting without one stores nothing about you beyond the painting itself. If you do make one, we hold your email address, your painter name and color, your workspace preferences, your daily painting streak, and whether you support the site. There is no password, because signing in is a link we email you.

Deleting your account removes it along with any painting only you touched. Shared paintings stay, with your name removed.

If you support the site

Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Your card never touches our servers and we never see it. We store the customer id Stripe gives us, whether the subscription is active, and when the current period ends, which is all we need to know which extras to unlock for you.

What stays on your device

Your painter name and color, your list of visited paintings, workspace preferences, and painting passwords you have entered are kept in your browser's local storage. “Forget me on this device” in Settings clears all of it.

Feedback

A note sent through the feedback button is stored with your painter name and the page you sent it from, so we can tell which screen you meant. The email box is optional: fill it in only if you want a reply, and we will use it for that and nothing else. Leave it blank and the note arrives with no way to contact you.

Chat

Chat messages travel live between painters in a room and are not stored on our servers. Close the room and they are gone.

Uploads

Photos you upload are used only to build your painting and show it to the people you paint with. Deleting a painting deletes its photo and every brushstroke with it. Please only upload photos you have the right to use.

Photos sent to the community board are meant to be public, so they pass through our screening provider first. Rejected pictures are deleted along with their files.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages people enjoy. It is cookie-free, does not follow you across the web, and does not store personal information. We use it to answer one question: is anyone painting?

Ads and cookies

There are no ads on Paint Together, for anyone, and no advertising or tracking scripts run here. We set no advertising cookies and share nothing with ad networks. The site is paid for by the painters who choose to support it.

What we never do

Sell your data, train models on your photos, or send you marketing. Sign-in links are the only email you will ever get.

Questions or removals

Use the note form on the Help page or email hello@paintbynumberstogether.com and we will sort it out, including deleting anything of yours on request.
