The ads are gone
v1.4.1September 2, 2026- No more ads, for anybody. Not beside the canvas, not on the library, not anywhere, whether you support the site or not.
- Nothing from an ad network loads any more, so there are no advertising cookies to ask you about and no scripts following you between pages.
- Supporting the site still gets you voice in every room you host, the community board, and the extra paints, brushes and tables. It is what pays for the site now, which is the whole reason there is nothing to look at beside your painting.
Names you can keep, and a board to share on
v1.4.0July 29, 2026- Accounts are here, if you want one. Sign-in is a link in your email, no password. Painting without one works exactly as it always has.
- An account reserves your painter name, and renaming yourself takes your painting history with you.
- Your daily streak syncs to your account too, no subscription needed. A new phone picks it up mid-run.
- The community board: photos painters share, turned into kits anyone can paint. Send your own, paint what others sent, vote on what stays. Every picture is screened before it goes up.
- Supporters get fourteen more paints, twelve more tables, and five brushes that paint differently rather than just wider: dry-brush, stippling, a flat edge, a fan.
- Rooms have voice chat: when the host is a supporter, everyone they invite can talk while painting. Opt-in every time, up to six voices.
- Settings rebuilt. Brushes show a real stroke of what they do, and tables are proper backdrops instead of a list of color names.
- Confetti and shimmer can be turned off, for anyone who would rather paint in peace.
- Delete your account and it is genuinely gone, along with paintings only you touched. Shared ones stay, minus your name.
Finishing, and a tidier tray
v1.3.2July 27, 2026- Finish a painting and it now shows you what you made beside the photo it came from, with a wipe you can drag across, plus who painted how much, how long it took, and how many cells and colors were in it.
- The daily finally shows you its picture. Finishing is what earns the reveal, so the photo appears the moment you are done, and the button in the corner brings it back any time you want another look.
- Freehand brush: paint now counts wherever you actually put it. A single sweep could cover a dozen cells and only one of them would ever fill in, leaving the rest sitting under fresh paint still wearing their numbers.
- A paint that is used up now leaves the tray. The pots left get bigger and easier to hit, and the tray quietly empties as the picture fills.
- Finish the color you are holding and the brush moves along to the next one with work left in it, instead of leaving you holding an empty pot.
- The tray itself has been tidied up. Nothing is sliced off along the top any more, the scrollbar no longer sits on top of the little fill gauges, a long row of paints fades away at the edges instead of being chopped in half, and there is an arrow to tell you when there are more.
- The Feedback button no longer sits on top of your first few paints while you are trying to use them.
Fair play on the daily
v1.3.1July 27, 2026- Anyone can still join a public daily and paint it with you. That is the whole point of the place.
- But once a daily is 75% painted it closes to new painters. Turning up at the end to fill the last few cells was not really painting it. Anyone who has already painted in that room can come and go as they like.
- You unlock the day's picture by being there when it is finished, or by having painted at least half a fair share of it. The share scales with how many of you there are, so nobody gets shut out of a busy canvas for not hogging enough of it.
- If you do not unlock it, the page now tells you exactly why and how close you were, instead of quietly staying locked.
A painting a day
v1.3.0July 27, 2026- There is a new picture to paint every day, the same one for everybody, and you do not get to see what it is. All you get is the numbered outline. The photo appears when you finish.
- Daily pictures are their own thing: they are not in the picture library, so the only way to paint one is on its day.
- Around 1,800 cells in 24 colors, so it is a proper sit-down rather than a five minute thing.
- Finish yours and it joins the day's wall, alongside everyone else who painted it. Same picture, no two ever quite alike.
- Your streak is counted quietly on your own device. There is no leaderboard and no score, because this is not that kind of place.
A whole new picture library
v1.2.0July 26, 2026- The picture library has been rebuilt from scratch. Every picture is new, chosen for color and variety, and each one credits the photographer who took it.
- Kits look closer to your photo now. Every cell takes the color of what is actually inside it, so shading runs smoother and far fewer patches come out the wrong shade.
- Ultra fine on a smaller photo finally gives you the detail it promised. It used to quietly merge away nearly half the cells because they had no room to exist.
- Big flat areas like skies and walls now break into proper cells instead of one enormous one you could never finish.
- If you had one of the old pictures open or saved, it still works exactly as before. Nothing you have painted has changed.
Compare works on touchscreens
v1.1.1July 26, 2026- The before-and-after comparison now works by dragging straight across the picture, with a proper round handle to grab. The old thin slider was nearly impossible to hit on a tablet.
Big paintings feel light now
v1.1.0July 26, 2026- Painting on huge kits no longer stutters. Every brushstroke used to pause the page for a moment; that pause is essentially gone, even on ultra fine paintings with thousands of cells.
- Finishing a cell no longer makes the whole picture flicker.
- Double tapping while you paint no longer zooms the picture out. Double tap outside the painting to fit it to the screen, or use the corner button.
- Fixed a rare glitch where the view would suddenly zoom out mid-stroke on touchscreens.
- Paintings open faster, and the little preview pictures save quicker too.
Keyboard panning
v1.0.5July 24, 2026- Arrow keys and WASD now pan around the canvas, handy when painting zoomed in. Hold Shift for bigger jumps.
Faster kits, instant tweaks
v1.0.4July 24, 2026- Ultra fine kits now mix about two and a half times faster.
- Changing colors or detail in the kit wizard no longer redoes finished work. Flipping between settings you already tried is instant.
- Watercolor blending no longer sneaks into your next painting. It always starts off.
- This changelog page exists now, so you can see what we are up to.
The paint economy grows up
v1.0.3July 23, 2026- Asking a fellow painter for a paint actually notifies them now. Their pot wiggles and they see who wants it.
- A paint whose owner stepped away, or left, or just isn't using it glows softly. Tap it to take it. Nobody can hold colors hostage.
- When a painter leaves the room, their paints get dealt out to whoever is still painting.
- Gave away all your paints? You stay visible in everyone's tray so they can hand them back.
- Paint trays are much more compact on tablets. The canvas keeps the screen.
- Brushstrokes now survive shaky connections. If a save fails, it quietly retries until it lands.
- Big paintings with over a thousand finished cells load correctly again.
- Finished paintings look finished on the home page instead of nearly blank.
- Little cells fully inside a bigger cell no longer get painted over by their neighbor.
Printables and share pages
v1.0.2July 22, 2026- Print any kit as a paper sheet, or save it as a PDF. Numbered cells plus a paint legend with color names and exact codes.
- Every painting has a share page now. Send it to anyone and they see the painting, who painted it, and how long it took.
- A feedback button lives in the corner of every page. Bugs, wishes, compliments: we read every note.
- Paint Together is now playable on itch.io too.
Ten painters, one canvas
v1.0.1July 21, 2026- Up to ten painters per canvas, each with their own labeled paint tray. Drag a pot onto someone's tray to share it.
- Chat got speech bubbles by your cursor, reactions, and typing dots.
